Environment

CBRE takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously; in May 2007 we announced an Environmental Stewardship policy committing us to reducing our carbon footprint. Furthermore, all of our London offices have been awarded the ISO14001 certificate, this internationally recognised standard which demands significant measurable action and continuous improvement in the environmental management of buildings. We carefully monitor our energy consumption in the buildings we occupy, by installing data readings for our gas, electricity, water and oil usage and undertaking regular energy audits.

In the maintenance of our offices we also use local suppliers and ensure that all cleaning and stationery products are from sustainable resources, whenever possible. All of the paper literature we produce is printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper using vegetable based ink.

CBRE are on a mission to reduce the amount of waste we generate and recycle as much as we can, this includes: glass, cans, plastics, florescent tubes, printer cartridges and batteries.

Our London offices have recently installed water saving dual-flush toilets, to ensure we are keeping our water use to a minimum. We have also changed our drinking water supplier and thus reduced our use of plastic water bottles by 11,000.

Furthermore, we try to encourage all staff to use public transport wherever possible and cater for cyclists by providing showers and changing facilities in our offices. We also run a ‘Cycle to Work’ Scheme which offers reductions on cycling equipment as well as monthly repayments and savings on VAT, Income Tax and National Insurance. All staff are also offered an interest free public transport season ticket.
