Introducing Blackwall and the Blackwall Reach Development
Blackwall used to be an industrial area of London with excellent links to the Docks but today the area is being transformed. Many of the former warehouses and commercial buildings are being redeveloped to cope with changing demographics and trends, helping to make living in Blackwall an exciting and attractive proposition for Londoners.
Prior to the new developments in Blackwall the area had a declining residential population with many choosing to get away from the growing business districts and instead moving to commuter towns on the outskirts of London. One of the best things about Blackwall is its excellent transport links with the Blackwall DLR station providing easy access to popular commercial and social areas of London such as the City, Stratford, Kings Cross, Covent Garden and Oxford Street.
Today, thanks to the regeneration projects which started in the late 1980s, Blackwall is a thriving area once again attracting a variety of new residents and business owners looking to take up the option to buy or rent some of the fantastic new properties in a prime London location.
What’s so great about living in Blackwall?
Part of the appeal of the former Blackwall area was that it had a real sense of local community with independent stores and green spaces for children to play in. Over time that spirit disappeared but one of the main aims of the new Blackwall Reach development is to restore the local community spirit with contemporary, eco-friendly apartments with almost immediate access to the Blackwall DLR, flexible winter gardens and open spaces where residents can meet, play and relax.
The new Blackwall Reach development is part of a £300 million project aimed at transforming what is already one of London’s most exciting areas with a collection of spectacular properties in this prime location just a short distance from one of London’s most prominent locations, Canary Wharf.
The new development is part of a five-stage process that will see a wealth of new properties to buy in Blackwall along with shops, improved transport links, community facilities and lush open spaces.
The first phase has seen the development of 99 properties and a new primary school on Woolmore Street, close to a new mosque and community centre. The second stage at Station Square involves the creation of a total of 242 properties made up of one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses in what is set to be a stunning 24-storey tower, located in the heart of one of Europe's most dynamic regeneration schemes with views out across the River Thames and Canary Wharf.
The next phase of the project will see 268 new homes built around a beautiful park in what will become known as Parkside West. Residents who take up the new properties in this part of Blackwall Reach will have excellent views across and access to the revitalised Millennium Green in the heart of the new development, a green space where residents can relax and socialise away from the hustle and bustle of central London.
Parkside East will be the fourth stage in the development process on the opposite side of Millennium Green, running parallel to Robin Hood Lane and opposite the new Woolmore Primary School. This development will complete the area’s transformation and are highly likely to become some of the most sought after new developments in London.
As a part of the project residents will have almost instant access to the Republic offices, retail and gym, which is set to be fully completed and open by 2021; while plans are also in place for the future development of Blackwall Heights, the area that will soon be to the side of Station Square.
