My favourite haunts in Covent Garden

Alex Evagora, Lettings Negotiator at our Covent Garden office, shares his favourite haunts in and around Covent Garden.

Covent Garden has so much to offer for local residents, there is an abundance of theatres, wine bars, restaurants, lifestyle stores, and clothing shops; the area even has a road dedicated to womenswear, King Street, and another dedicated to menswear, Henrietta Street.

In the heart of Covent Garden you have the Piazza where you’ll find a whole world of high end boutiques and individual shops, housed in the stunning seventeenth century market building, and surrounded by beautiful cobbled roads.

One of the most remarkable things about Covent Garden is its connectivity. You’ll find Chinatown and Soho to the west, famous east-to-west thoroughfare the Strand, and the River Thames to the south, the legal and financial districts of Holborn and the City of London to the east and artsy Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury to the north.

Covent Garden is the epicentre of London and here are my recommendations on what to do in Covent Garden:

Balthazar London on Russell Street is a great place for a spot of breakfast. A famous New York restaurant originally, and is now one of London’s most popular brunch spots.

If you’re short of time and are looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch, Kastner and Ovens is a hidden gem tucked away on Floral Street, serving a delicious array of salads and home-baked breads and cakes.

Dishoom on St Martin’s Courtyard delivers authentic Indian street food from its Bombay inspired café, and is always bustling night and day; the perfect location for a tasty curry and a buzzy atmosphere.

Suda Thai also on St Martin’s Courtyard serves a wide range Thai food, and is the perfect pitstop just off the shopping and bustle of Long Acre.

Homeslice Neal’s Yard is famous for a good reason; it’s the biggest pizza you’ll ever have. Coupled with a range of toppings you’re unlikely to have tried elsewhere, it’s a totally different pizza experience.
