Our best places to enjoy the sun in Covent Garden

Will Porritt, Senior Lettings Negotiator for our Covent Garden office, shares his top tips on where best to go in Covent Garden over the spring and summer months.

As the summer months start approaching, Covent Garden becomes a hub for al fresco dining for resident, working professionals and tourists alike. After working the area for two years, I have found an array of sun spots which are all perfect for either a quick lunch during the week, or an end of the week soiree with colleagues.  As I am a real fan of street food, there are a plethora of options during the summer months of places to go.

Every Thursday Epicurean Events holds a street food market in St Giles-in-the-Fields’ North Churchyard, which is located just north of Covent Garden. The market traders serve a wide range of street food from: Asian inspired dishes such as gourmet sushi, Tokyo inspired stir-fry to Venezuelan and Columbian Arepas which are all bursting with flavour. What really sets this food market apart from the wealth of street food markets across London, is its location as you‘re moments from Covent Garden but are set amongst the wonderful grounds of St Giles-in-the-Fields. So, after you’ve eaten, you can sit and relax whilst catching some much need sun, before heading back to the office.

You are also spoilt for choice for places to go in and around Covent Garden for some early evening socialising with colleagues or friends, and one of my favourite spots is the Crown and Anchor on Neal Street. You’ll benefit from having direct sunlight overlooking the Seven Dials roundabout until early evening. The atmosphere is buzzing with tourists, residents and working professionals all enjoying a bite to eat and a quick drink.

For me, this is why there is no better place in the summer than Covent Garden. It is not necessarily and individual pub or restaurant, but the atmosphere it provides, and the friendly nature of the people around you that make it like no other.
