The best restaurants in Covent Garden
When looking to buy or rent in London the local amentities, restaurants and bars are always something to consider. Covent Garden is spoilt for choice, especially with delicious food. CBRE's negotiator, Johnny Rogers, picks his top three!
Dishoom is a lovely Indian restaurant chain in Covent Garden which is based on the old Irani cafes of Bombay. With good quality food and reasonable prices this small chain of restaurants is becoming increasingly popular, just make sure you get there early as there are usually queues to get in! The restaurant caters for all meals, perhaps you just want a light lunch with romali rolls and salad plates or linger with a feast or to join for a quick tipple & finish the meal with Dishooms very own IPA larger. They also do an amazing breakfast and the bacon naan roll comes highly recommended.
Onethebab is a Korean street food restaurant and takeaway in Covent Garden. With only three stores opened in London this relatively small restaurant chain is popular with local workers & tourists alike. Its food is some of the best Korean cuisine in the city & the fried chicken & beef Bibimap is perfect for a late lunch or early dinner just before a theatre show.
A great steak restaurant which is probably one of the only places in Covent Garden where you can get a quality steak for £10! The steak is beautifully cut & served on a flat iron plate (hence the name) with a garden salad. All you have to then add are your sides, one recommendation would be the creamed spinach which works really well with the finely seasoned steak, or keep it simple & go for the dripping cooked chips. If you are lucky the waiters will give you a small gambling chip at the end of your meal which you can then exchange for an ice cream cone covered in their locally sourced chocolate flakes. A great way to end the meal.
One of my favourite places in Covent Garden to visit is Kopapa in Seven Dials. It is open from breakfast through until dinner and has an amazing menu which reminds me of my New Zealand roots! Their fusion of flavours are inspired by cuisines from around the world. You will never be disappointed and are always in for a treat when you visit! If you feel like taking some of the recipes home with you, Peter Gordon’s personally signed cook books are on sale for a reasonable price.
Souk Medina is another one of my personal favourites within Seven Dials. As soon as you step through the door, you feel like you have stepped into Morocco. They have a full themed restaurant and lovely staff serving traditional, well-priced Moroccan food. Having this hub of amazing restaurants and cafes in and around Seven Dials makes it a perfect place for people to live or just to come together to catch up over a meal or coffee. It is conveniently placed in the heart of Covent Garden, yet it is a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of Soho.
