The college motto is “Scientia imperii decus et tutamen” which, when translated from Latin, reads “Scientific knowledge, the crowning glory and the safeguard of the empire.”

In the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Imperial College London was ranked 8th making it the 4th highest entry from the United Kingdom behind the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford and University College London; while the Times / Sunday Times Good University Guide for 2017 placed Imperial in 5th position in the UK.

Originally formed by Prince Albert and officially credited as a University in 1907 after a merger between three notable colleges in the area, Imperial College London is arguably one of the leading Universities in the city and is situated in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in the very heart of the capital. This helps to make it an attractive option for students from home and overseas thanks to its proximity to everything that a city like London has to offer.

Imperial is home to one of the largest medicine faculties in the UK meaning that a number of the country’s top medical students and professors come together in an attempt to shape the future of medicine here in the United Kingdom. London was recently ranked third in the list of best student cities in the world, and first in the UK, and with so many things to see and do in an ever-evolving city it’s easy to see why.

Imperial College London is located in South Kensington which is a vibrant area of central London filled with notable sights, tourist attractions and places to go to help you wind down after a long day on campus. Being in central London has a wealth of benefits for those who take out student rentals in South Kensington to attend Imperial as you never have to travel too far to find a popular restaurant, exclusive bar or leisure and recreation activities.
