Today the University of Westminster has six different campuses across London with a number of international links, showcasing itself as one of the finest educational institutions in the world. Studying at the University of Westminster

As one of London’s most central and diverse Universities, the University of Westminster has branched out from its main campus located on Regent Street in Marylebone and today has a total of four locations around the city including three central London campuses called Cavendish, Marylebone and Regent.

The fourth campus at Harrow is just a short journey away on the London Underground with all four venues having been recently renovated to bring them into the modern era and to cope with the demands of today’s students.

The University of Westminster offers a wealth of different courses ranging from short-term studies and summer courses to full degrees at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. The Business School is one of the leading facilities in the country and has a fantastic reputation that spreads far and wide.

As a top-100 University in the United Kingdom, Westminster has a reputation for providing top level tuition and research opportunities and its central London location helps it to attract interest from students not just here in the UK but from abroad, too.

Each facility has its own benefits ranging from the latest high tech machinery and computers to state-of-the-art laboratories and sports facilities. The four campuses also enable the University of Westminster to build links with various industries and sectors so that students can take advantage of work placements and can work towards a full-time position, apprenticeship or graduate role when they complete their course.

The Student’s Union is home to the various sports clubs and University societies, as well as various forms of live music and entertainment throughout the year. Unlike many Universities that focus on “key” sports such as football, rugby, hockey and athletics; the University of Westminster has a much wider range of sports and activities to get involved in including capoeira, rock climbing, Brazilian jujitsu and much more so that you have the opportunity to try something new or to join in with an activity you know and make new friends.

As touched upon briefly already, the fact that the University of Westminster is spread from the centre of London out as far as Harrow enables students to look for student rentals in London as a whole as opposed to a specific area.

Transport Links

The central location means that the University of Westminster is already well connected in terms of public transport options, but the different campuses mean that you are already on the majority of Underground lines when you get to University each day.

For instance, the closest Underground station to the Regent Street campus is Oxford Circus on the Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines which then allow you to take in the various sights and tourist attractions without changing your daily commute should you have any spare time.

The Marylebone campus is directly opposite the Baker Street Underground station which is on the Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee and Metropolitan lines. The closest stations to the Cavendish campus are at Warren Street on the Northern and Victoria lines, Great Portland Street on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines and Goodge Street on the Northern line.

Out of the city, the closest Underground station to the Harrow campus is Northwick Park on the Metropolitan Line meaning that you can live in the city if you’d prefer and travel out towards Harrow.

The closest national rail station to the central campuses is London Euston which is under a mile away on foot. Euston has excellent connections to the wider London area enabling you to get around the city quickly and easily so should you wish to get away for a few days or should you choose to go overseas you can go from Euston to St. Pancras international to catch the Eurostar.

Buses run on a regular basis throughout the day and call close to each of the campuses meaning you’re never likely to wait too long for one to come along to get to Uni or to head home in the evenings. A lot of London bus stops now have electronic timings updating passengers on how long they’ll have to wait for a bus, but you can also find out about your travel options on the Transport for London (TfL) website.

Best of all about London’s public transport system is that you can buy an Oyster Card that you simply top up with money to travel and you can then pay for the Underground, Overground, DLR or bus services electronically. You can also use your contactless bank or credit card.

Student Life in Marylebone

London was recently voted as the world’s 3rd best student city and the best in London and with so many exclusive bars and restaurants, places to go shopping and tourist attractions it’s obvious why really.

It may seem like such a huge city to someone living in London for the first time, but before long you’ll soon realise that it’s not such a daunting prospect and that it is possible to see it all during your time at University. While you may never be able to navigate around the city on foot or by road, the excellent public transport service means that you don’t necessarily have to.

Marylebone, Soho and Covent Garden are particularly popular areas of London with students as there is always something going on. From live entertainment to all kinds of different cuisines and themed bars for you to socialise in, students are well catered for as it is but these areas also offer various exclusive and member-only packages to ensure that you get the best of London’s VIP treatment.

Shopping on Oxford Street is a particularly appealing option for some students. With the main campus right next to the Oxford Circus underground station you can always partake in a bit of window shopping on your way to or from University to help unwind, or you can get the tube into other areas of London where you can hit the other high streets and department stores including Harrod’s in a matter of minutes.

Westminster being in the heart of the capital also means that you’re never far from the main tourist attractions, libraries, museums, green or open spaces and live entertainment venues. London is home to some incredible theatres should you wish to be entertained by musical acts or theatre performances or you can find every resource you could possibly need to assist your studies in places like the British Library or British Museum which are both within a short Tube ride from the University and our student rentals.
